A loan of $575 helped to buy cooking utensils and ingredients for preparing food.

Xenia's story

Xenia is 20 years old. She is a hard-working, dynamic woman who is friendly and cheerful. She is single and doesn't have any children yet. She lives in a rental house together with her parents and brother who she loves very much.

Xenia's business is selling food such as noodles, 'arroz chaufa' (a Peruvian-Asian dish), fried chicken and soft drinks. She sets up a table and chairs out the front of her house at midday and sells lunches there. She started out with some capital that her mother gave her three years ago. She has worked with a lot of effort and commitment and gained a bunch of customers who now visit her regularly. She enjoys feeling productive. Her business both entertains and relaxes her. In addition, she is able to use the income that she makes to support her family and pay for her university studies (she studies at night). What she does not like is the heat from the coal-burning stove as it is bad for her health. However, she does not become discouraged and has plans to continue in her business and expand it.

This is Xenia's third loan from MFP and she hopes to continue achieving her aims. She feels happy to be a member of her community bank as she considers the members to be responsible people.

Xenia will use the 1,500 soles she has requested to buy cooking utensils such as dishes, pans and skillets. She will also buy ingredients for making food.
