A loan of $4,775 helped to purchase a vehicle for her painting business.

Tanisha's story

Accion just financed a new business and the name says it all – “Tuff Chicks Painting”. Owner Tanisha began the company after working as a painter for several companies and experiencing discrimination as a women in this male-dominated industry. She created her business to be able to work with other women towards a common goal and to develop a positive relationship with the community she serves. Tuff Chicks Painting is growing quickly with their excellent interior painting services.

Since her business is in New York City, she had relied on public transportation and car rentals to get to and from her many jobs. As her business grew, it made more sense to purchase a vehicle. Just one thing stood in her way – she had never borrowed or established credit and was having difficulty getting a loan. Through Accion’s partnership with a great female business incubator called "In Good Company", Tanisha learned about Accion. A vehicle for her business recently became a reality after she was approved for her first business loan through Accion!

The potential to grow her business has never been greater. Now, she can pick up painting supplies instead of paying a delivery fee and can handle many more jobs. Her next goal? Hire more “tough chicks” to help her with her growing business!
