Mueni's story

Mueni lives in the Mariakani area of Coast province, Kenya. She is married and has five children. Mueni owns a green grocer which she has been operating for seven years.

Mueni learned about Milango through a friend. Her aim is to access credit to improve her business operations. Mueni is applying for a loan of 21,100 KES (Kenya shillings) to boost her business by buying tomatoes, onions and vegetables for wholesale. The extra income from the loan will be added to her savings to pay school fees for her children. Mueni's challenges are price fluctuations, inflation, high fuel and transport costs and seasonal weather. Her plans for the future are to buy land and to build a rental house.
