A loan of $4,350 helped a member to buy clothes at wholesale.

Las Abejitas Group's story

The “Las Abejitas” (The Little Bees) is a very compact group; it has 14 members. Esther is one of this communal bank’s members and she stands out for being one of the most punctual and responsible members of the group. She sells clothes both at wholesale and retail for men, women and children, that is to say, she has a small bazaar. Thanks to her business she’s been able to support her minor son who is school age since she’s a single mother.

Esther relates that due to the local patron saint feast day the number of customers increases which is why she’s asking for a loan to buy merchandise like pants, shirts, jackets, stockings, etc. In the future, Esther would like to have a more spacious locale to better display her merchandise.

In the photo, Esther is wearing a pink sweater and gray jacket and she’s first on the left on top. Next to her is Estela wearing a black jacket and orange sweater.

In this group: Livia Elena, Alfredo Orlando, Esther, Estela, Noemi Liz, Marili Pamela, Carmen Rosa, Ronald, Aurelio Nestor, Ida Elvia*, Marleny, Gladys, Diana Soledad, Hila
