A loan of $700 helped to buy sewing supplies and beauty products.

Maria's story

María, 54, is a very hardworking, enterprising, and happy woman who wants to get ahead. She is separated from the father of her two daughters. Now she lives only with them (Joelia, 20, and María, 9), whom she loves very much. Her house is her own; she bought it with the help of her ex-partner.

Her work is sewing, a trade she learned by studying in an occupational education center. She set herself up in this trade 15 years ago when she managed to buy her first sewing machine with her savings. But she doesn't do it all the time because she also sells beauty products that she buys from a catalogue and sells to her friends. She has been in this business for more than 30 years.

What she likes about her job is that she has an income to pay for the household expenses, be busy, and feel like a productive woman. She would like to be able to expand her business and put in other machines, as well as install a display case for her beauty products.

This is her second loan with MFP. She is very happy to know she will have financial help because that way she will feel confident about moving forward with her business. On the other hand, she promises once again to make her payments on time, as she did with her previous loan.

With the requested amount of 1800 nuevos soles [PEN] she will invest in buying sewing supplies wholesale, such as fabric and thread. She also will buy beauty products to have stock available for sale.
