A loan of $500 helped a member to buy a machine for her boat.

Saly's Group's story

Living in a rural village of the Ek Phnom district of Battambang province, Saly, 45, is a married mother of four children, three of whom are staying with the family. Her youngest son is still in school while the other two sons are not married and are working as a paid worker and motorbike repairer. She and her husband earn a living through fishing, which they have been doing for twenty-five years.

This is the third loan for Saly’s group of two members. She successfully repaid the past two loans to relieve the family’s burden and improve her livelihood. The current business earns her about 39,000KHR per day. Now leading her group to apply for a loan of 2,000,000KHR, Saly will use her portion to buy a machine for her boat and use a portion of it to fix her old boat. With this loan, she hopes to increase her income to make a better living.
