A loan of $1,150 helped to buy two bulls.

Marleni's story

Marleni is 36 and lives with her three small children in the house she bought a year ago in Yanamarca. Her main profession is raising livestock. Her stable is a half hour from her house; here she lets her animals roam in the wide, green pastures. For 5 years, she has been raising sheep, pigs, cows, and bulls, which she carefully feeds and tends. Every three months, she sells the animals either to butchers who come to her house or at the city fair on Sundays. “Everything depends on price. If the butchers offer the best price, I sell to them; if not, I have to take the animals to the fair," she says.

She belongs to the communal bank “La rosa de Guadalupe,” and this is her sixth loan cycle with MFP. She is grateful for the financial support and counseling she has received over the years, which helped her to manage her money and to make it productive. She also likes working with her communal bank and promises to make her payments on time. Marleni will use this loan to buy two bulls to fatten them.
