A loan of $1,150 helped to buy manure and fertilizers for his crop.

Wilfredo Francisco's story

Wilfredo is 51, and lives in the city of Camaná with his wife and children. He is a very friendly person, enthusiatic and hard-working. He devotes all his efforts to helping his family get ahead in life. Unfortunately, because of lack of financial resources, and the need to work to support his parents he didn't finish high school, but he would have very much liked to have done so.

In his free time he likes to watch educational programs and newscasts on television. Occasionally he cooks a very delicious "arroz chaufa' (Chinese fried rice, prepared Peruvian-style) to share with his family.

Thanks to his enterprising spirit and his desire to succeed, Wilfredo farms. He has a small piece of land where he grows beans. He devotes approximately 12 hours daily to his business. He is very comfortable in his business, as he has always liked farm work a great deal.

Wilfredo is very grateful to the Kiva lenders, as thanks to the support offered, he will be able to undertake the purchase of manure and fertilizers, and will be able to maintain his crop. This way he will be able to ensure the harvest of his crop and increase his income.

In the not-too-distant future he hopes to be able to buy cattle, in order to start another business.
