A loan of $775 helped to buy a parcel of farmland.

Edith's story

Edith, 22, is a hardworking young woman. She lives with her partner, Roy, 23, in a house Edith’s parents passed down to her. They both want to have a better future as time goes by.

The activity she carries out daily with her partner is coffee and cocoa bean growing. With much dedication she’s managed to make her land more productive which has resulted in very good quality products that are well priced in her local markets. What she likes best about her work is caring for the crops which she does very diligently. She’s been in this business two years and considers the most difficult part having to transport the products from her fields to the dryers. Drying is the last step done prior to taking them to be sold.

This is her third MFP loan and she feels grateful to the people who provide the loan because she’ll be able to continue towards her objective. On the other hand, it pleases her to be part of her communal bank because the members are people who support each other’s work. She will use the 2000 new soles to buy another parcel of land to continue growing cocoa beans on.
