Efficacité Plus Group's story

Horace is the president of the Community Bank “Efficacité Plus” group, which is composed of 15 members united in solidarity to receive loans from Kiva through MFI HOPE RDC with the goal of developing their businesses. Horace runs a telephone booth to the west of Kinshasa. He began his business in 1998. His beginning capital was US $100. With hard work and determination, his business has prospered. Horace is now well known and liked in this area because of his good service. He is a trustworthy client who has received three loans from MFI HOPE DRC and fully repaid them. The loans he has received have helped him rent a well located business place. He makes US $100 profit each week. Horace intends with the next loan to purchase more prepaid phone cards to meet customers' demand and generate additional profits. Horace is 38 years old, married, and the father of five children between the ages of 1 and 10, two of whom go to school. His ambition is to open another telephone booth in another area.
