A loan of $600 helped a member to buy small foodstuffs and household items for resale.

Leh We Hold Fine Group's story

Pictured here are members of the “Leh We Hold Fine" group from Kono, a city in Eastern Sierra Leone. They are amall-scale businesswomen who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, in order to seek for a loan of SLL 500,000 for each in the group. With this loan, they will be able to add more goods to their businesses, attract more customers, make more sales and profits and consequently improve their living conditions.

The leader of this group of entrepreneurs is Sia, 30, who appears on the right. She was born in Tankoro, is married and has four children. Her husband is a mechanic, and all of her children are attending school. Sia has been selling biscuits, butter, sweets, soaps, and other small household items and foods for eight years now. With her share of this loan, she will buy more of these items to sell.
