Banco Mujer Mujeres Esforzadas Group's story

The “Women's Bank of Vigorous [Enterprising] Women” is presenting this request for loans for its 6 members, who work in the community of Fray Casiano in Puntarenas with its high levels of poverty. The women's group maintains savings accounts and participates in group activities inj their zone to generate income. The members have been working in various types of activities for 8 years, having requested loans in the past. They understand how the group can work together and have formed a Directing Committee and drafted “Act No. 1” to form the “Women's Bank of Vigorous Women”.

Hard work and much effort has allowed them to consolidate their activities in general commerce, including selling clothing, shoes, perfumes and other things. The loan will contribute to improving the group's working conditions, allowing them to invest for another half year, increasing their inventory, and covering orders for the mid-year vacation period and Mothers Day.

They plan to recover their investment in weekly payments. This will permit them to enjoy a more ample profit margin. They promise to retire their debt within a period of 8 months.

Some of the women are heads of households and single mothers. In addition to carrying out their economic activities during the afternoons, they also must care for their children and attend group reunions.

Their objective is to improve the condition of their enterprises, obtaining financing according to their needs and helping in the development of the zone. They also wish to improve their families' quality of life. The group's name motivates them to be better “Enterprising Women” every day.
