A loan of $400 helped to plaster and paint the front of his beverage store.

Juan Genaro's story

Juan, 28, lives in the city of Pucallpa, characterized by its warm climate and welcoming people. Juan is a very happy, enthusiastic, and hardworking person who very much wants to improve himself. In his free time he likes to read and sometimes, when his parents visit, he cooks a delicious "carapulcra" [meat and potato stew] to share with his family.

Thanks to his effort and the support of his family, Juan is studying to be a forestry engineer. Juan is an employee of a lumber business in his city. He works approximately 10 hours a day and feels comfortable doing his job because they appreciate him for his performance and his friendliness with people.

Juan is very grateful to the Kiva lenders because, thanks to their help, he will be able to plaster and paint the front of his beverage store, where he sells soft drinks, soda, bottled water, liquor, and other beverages. This way Juan's business will be in better shape and more presentable to his customers. With this he hopes to be able to attract more customers and so increase his income, which he wants to use to finish his education.

In the near future he hopes to be able to realize his big dream, to have his own business selling wood.
