A loan of $1,525 helped to buy corn seed, banana plants and fertilizer.

Faile's story

Faile is 53 years old. He separated from the mother of his children ten years ago. He has four children who have already left home. Faile lives alone in his own home which is located in the indigenous community of Pucharini (central Peruvian jungle).

Faile has been farming since he was 18. His work is hard. He starts by getting rid of weeds in order to begin any planting work. He currently grows coffee, bananas, corn, cassava and ginger. He has seven plots of land where he grows these crops. Over the years he has been farming, he has had a lot of satisfaction as well as some failures. He remembers that, twelve years ago, he lost all his corn and ginger crop because of pests. This experience taught him to take precautions and be prepared for a lack of rain, or insects. Since then, his harvests have given him better results. He now plans to start sowing more corn and bananas and he needs several bags of organic fertilizer and seeds to do this.

This is Faile's eleventh loan from MFP. He is very grateful for all the support he has received over the years. He is a member of the 'Sankori' community bank and he feels happy with his group because of the coordinated work of its members.

Faile will invest the money from this loan in buying corn seeds, banana plants and bags of fertilizer so that he can start his planting.
