A loan of $775 helped to buy pea seeds and fertilizers for his crops.

Emilio's story

Emilio is 44 years old. His partner is Sonia and the couple have five children. They live together in a house that Emilio worked hard to build. It is located in San Antonio, a community with fertile land and a cold climate.

Emilio has been farming for 26 years. With the support of his wife, he has managed to carry out all the tiring work involved in tending, pruning and harvesting their crops. He sows potatoes, peas, broad beans and barley. The rewards he obtains from the farm work are good when prices are favorable. However, there are times when the weather is not favorable. As he lives at high altitude, frosts attack his crops. One year he lost an entire harvest. Emilio's immediate goal is to improve his potato yields this year because forecasts suggest that prices will be better than they were last year. However, Emilio considers himself to be a specialist in growing peas and so he will be sure to look after this crop too.

This is Emilio's ninth loan from MFP. He re-affirms his loyalty to the entity because of the opportunity they have given him to develop his business. He is also grateful for the educational talks that he frequently receives.

Emilio will invest this money in buying two bags of pea seeds (1,200 soles). He will use the rest to buy bags of fertilizer for his potatoes and peas.
