A loan of $950 helped to buy 20 bags of natural fertilizer.

Esther's story

Esther is 19 years old. She has lived with her siblings and parents her whole life in Tambo Paccha in the house bought by her father. In spite of her youth she grows various crops . From a young age she learned from her parents how to work the land and earn a living from it. 'I really like to help my parents, and I enjoy being out in the peaceful countryside,' she says. For these reasons she she started growing potatoes, peas, beans, and other vegetables in her parents' fields. With help from her siblings she also spreads fertilizer on the fields as they always do. Now she is in the main planting season so she wants to invest all her money so that in January she will have a good harvest. She already has a buyer for the produce in the town.

Esther belongs to the Productores Community Bank and this is her fifth loan with MFP. Over this time she has had many benefits from the loans such as increasing production of milk and produce which has led to an increased income. She promises to make her repayments on time.

Esther plans to use the loan money to buy 20 bags of natural fertilizer to spread on her potato fields.
