A loan of $1,075 helped to purchase dyes, hairspray, bleach, combs, and shampoo to stock her salon.

Patricia's story

Patricia is a member of the Caminando Juntos community bank located in the city of Rancagua. She has worked as a hairdresser for 35 years. She took specialized courses which allowed her to perfect her skills and start her business. She does haircuts, hairstyles, and dying, among other things.

She works at her salon four times a week, and her schedule is distributed according to her availability, since the salon is located in her home, and she sometimes goes to her customers' homes. She purchases her merchandise at distributors that specialize in hair care products, and sometimes she purchases at inexpensive wholesalers in Santiago, which is financially beneficial. With this loan, she will purchase dyes, hairspray, bleach, combs, and shampoo to stock her salon. One of Patricia's goals for her business is to perfect and incorporate body massage machines.

Patricia lives with her husband, who works as a manager of a grocery store, and her 21 year old son, who works. Her dream for her work is to start a bakery since she has also taken courses in this area. Her dream for her family is to have their own house.

She is very happy and thankful for the opportunity provided by Fondo Esperanza since it has allowed her to invest in her business. She says that the community bank she is a part of has very good communication. The trainings provided have allowed her to learn new sales strategies and accounting.

Rancagua is located in the Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins region. It is a modern city that produces and exports fruits and Chilean wine. It is also a mining city, since its mountains have the largest underground mine in the world, El Teniente, which has 4,500 kilometers of tunnels.
