A loan of $475 helped a member to buy fertilizers for rice farming and grocery items to sell.

Kai's Group's story

Kai, aged 31, lives in a rural area of the Sangke district of Battambang province, Cambodia. He and his wife have no children yet. Kai has been planting rice for five years. To better support the family, his wife sells grocery items such as seasonings, soap, eggs, etc. to earn extra income. With the current business, his family can earn approximately KHR 66,700 per day to support their living costs. The main challenge of their business is low crop yields as a result of floods.

Kai has been with VisionFund for one cycle and has successfully paid back the previous loan while the other member of his group has been with VisionFund for two cycles. The previous loan helped Kai with a better living standard. Now he is leading the group to apply for a loan with VisionFund.

As the leader, Kai is going to use his portion to buy fertilizers for rice farming and will use some to buy grocery items to sell. He hopes this loan will enable his family to earn more income to improve their standard of living.
