A loan of $575 helped to buy used clothing and a variety of merchandise such as accessories and perfumes.

Eucaris's story

64-year-old Eucaris is a widow and the mother of two children who are 26 and 32 years old. She worked as an employee in a hairbrush factory from the age of 30 but always wanted to run her own business. Her interest drove her to make some savings which she then used to set herself up and start a sales business. She decided to sell lunches from her own home but things didn't go very well and she stopped after a year. She later decided to start selling used clothing. This business did very well and she gradually added other merchandise such as shoes, bags, accessories, toys, beer and soft drinks. She is still in this business today. Eucaris' plans are to grow her business but she doesn't have enough working capital to achieve this. For this reason, she is applying for a Kiva loan which she will use to buy used clothing and a variety of merchandise such as accessories and perfumes. Her Kiva loan will expand her purchasing possibilities and she will be able to inject working capital into her business in order to strengthen it.
