A loan helped to buy dried fish stock to sell and to purchase fishing nets.

Tirsa's story

Tirsa is a 41-year-old married woman and a resident of Panglao, Bohol, Philippines. She has eight children, ages 23, 20, 18, 10, 8, 6, 3 and a 7-month old baby. She has been in the business of dried fish vending and fishing for almost 14 years. Her husband is a fisherman, and she works hard to support the family.

The business is a lucrative one, and she wanted to make a further investment in it. However, Tirsa doesn’t have enough capital for the sustainability of her business. At this time, she is asking for a loan worth 10,000 Philippines pesos (PHP) for her to use in buying dried fish stock for her growing number of customers and to buy fishing net for their fishing business.

Tirsa hopes that she could expand her ventures and earn as much as she can so that she will be able to serve more buyers. Most importantly, she wanted to send her children to school for their welfare and for their bright future.
