A loan of $600 helped a member to buy 2 pigs, pig feed, and to buy vegetables for sale.

Sophal's Group's story

To strive for a living as a 33-year-old mother of two dependent kids, Sophal has been on various businesses such as raising pigs, selling vegetables, and working for others for pay. With these businesses for 5 years, she is able to save about 10,000 KHR per day. This is the fifth cycle for Sophal with KIVA's partner, VisionFund. The past four loans have improved her living standard gradually and helped her business growth. Confidently, she has formed a new group loan with two other members. Her loan application is for 1,000,000 KHR while one of her members is applying for 600,000 KHR and the other member is requesting 800,000 KHR. As the group leader, she will use her loan portion to buy 2 pigs, pig feed, and to buy vegetables for sale. She hopes to raise her pigs healthfully so that she will have more profit for the sake of her family.
