A loan of $900 helped to hire workers and buy new plants.

Rosario's story

Rosario, 41, lives in her own house with her husband and two children. For 15 years she has been growing coffee, since her father inherited the plantation where she and her husband work. Their children helped out when they were young but now they are finishing their university education.

Rosario produces organic coffee because she is very concerned about the environment and the use of chemical fertilizers, which she avoids so as not to contaminate. Her goal as a producer is to create a plant nursery to grow coffee plants and include her entire family in the project. To achieve her goal she is requesting a loan to buy plants for her land and to buy organic fertilizers to increase her production at harvest time. Rosario hopes to meet at least 80% of her goal with the loan, because she knows if it is invested well it will give her a good profit and increase her economy. Then she will be able to set up the nursery for her coffee plant production.
