Mann, age 54, is a farmer in Baray district, where she grew up. She works the land with her husband, with whom she has seven children, two of whom are grown and married. Mann and her husband help each other in maintaining the farm work and providing the income to support the family.
Recently, one of Mann’s daughters has become engaged to be married. Mann is now asking for a loan from HKL and Kiva in order to pay for the wedding expenses of her daughter, who is planning her wedding for the near future.
Mann genuinely appreciates the continuous financial support available from Kiva lenders. This loan will provide sufficient funds for her to prepare her daughter’s wedding.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
