A loan of $1,500 helped to pay for a cow and a calf.

Anahit's story

Anahit is involved in agriculture. She operates a small farm behind her house, where she grows potatoes and beans. Anahit also has a small farm in a neighboring village, Aghavnadzor (18 kilometers away from Kapan), where she raises cattle. Currently, she keeps three cows. As the potato and bean harvest goes to sustain the family, the main part of the agricultural income comes from cattle breeding. Anahit sells not only the milk she gets, but also the cheese and matsun (thick sour milk) she makes from it. Anahit has applied for this loan to purchase a cow and a calf. This will help her to get more milk and make and sell more products.

Anahit lives with her husband and son. Anahit's husband works at a local military unit, and her son is a constructor. Additional income from agriculture is important for the family to accumulate savings for renovation of their old house and live in better conditions.
