A loan of $1,150 helped to purchase sweets, drinks, and other food items for her stall.

Leona's story

Leona is 53 years old and has six children with her husband, Lauro. They own their house, which they bought after many years of saving and sacrifice.

She works selling sweets, drinks, and food at a stall she set up across from a well-known university in the city. She started to develop the project three years ago, because she wanted to help her husband, who is a construction worker and a cobbler, with home expenses. Now, with one of their daughters' help, they can earn a daily income from her business. She considers it to be profitable, because she is the only one who has a stall at the university, so all the students consume her products. "I have no competition," she is very happy to say. But as with any job, she ran into problems as she developed her business, like during the holiday season, when there are no students and her sales decline. That is why she wants to stock her business with more products so that she can attract other customers, such as the people who live around the university.

This is her second loan with MFP and she is grateful for the support offered, because during all that time she was able to increase her profits, which allowed her to make improvements on her business. For this reason she promises to pay her installments on time.

Leona will invest the money from this loan in the purchase of more sweets, drinks, and other products, in order to stock her food stall.
