A loan of $1,000 helped to buy sound equipment.

Carlos Edgar's story

Carlos, a client of CIDRE, is a humble and hardworking young man who is 24 years of age. He lives in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Cochabamba, which is 20 minutes away from the city. This area is very dangerous and lacks public services. Nonetheless, Carlos and his siblings have decided to pursue a different path in life. When he was 16 years old, his father died of septic shock. His mother died in an automobile accident in 2004.

Carlos now plays in a mariachi band since he showed an affinity and talent for music at a young age. He plays different instruments such as the guitar, “guitarrón” (a folk guitar with 25 strings), trumpet, violin, and vihuela (another traditional stringed instrument) for various mariachi groups in the city of Cochabamba and in the heartland of Bolivia. Carlos and his siblings have been able to move forward. Now he needs sound equipment so that he can continue to play and generate more income. This is the reason why he is requesting this loan.
