Mumbi is a resident of Changamwe, Kenya. She has five children, two of whom are in school. She runs a motorcycle transport business in the area. This mode of transport is preferred by many who lack enough money for other transport and also preferred for short trips in the area. She began the business two years ago.
Besides this business, Mumbi also sells charcoal. She was introduced to Milango by friends. She is applying for a loan of 83,500 Kenya shillings to add more stock of charcoal. Her ambition is to purchase a fleet of vehicles for business in the area.
Mumbi will save the additional income obtained from this loan and use it to improve the life of her family. The challenge with the current business occurs during rainy seasons when her stock of charcoal goes down while demand is quite high and when fewer customers travel through motorcycles.
