A loan of $900 helped to buy coffee plants and fertilizer.

Carmelo's story

Carmelo tells us that when he was little he used to help his father grow coffee plants. "I remember that with the earnings from selling the plants we bought parcels of land little by little which we planted with my family." Now he has passed on to his children the knowledge that his father taught him and together they work producing coffee on the family farm. He has been a member of the “Unión Regional de Huatusco” for several years, where he delivers his coffee to be processed and exported. During the last harvest, his production was 12 tons and to maintain this level he needs a loan, since he has to replace a lot of his plants that don't give the yields he seeks and he has to buy fertilizer for his land. In the future he would like to acquire more land to be able to leave his children a good inheritance so they can work it and become independent.
