A loan of $550 helped to buy merchandise for her small grocery store.

Antonia's story

With 21,000 pesos, Antonia will be able to purchase merchandise to increase her small grocery store's inventory.

Eight years ago Antonia was widowed and had previously always been a housewife. She was 50 years old then and she understood that at that age it would be very hard for her to find employment for the first time. That is why she decided to open her own business and she can't complain. Although she has had some difficult times, her neighbors have helped her so that her grocery store has progressed.

Antonia has six children; the oldest is 40 and the youngest is 17. All of them have married, save for the youngest who still lives with her. Her youngest is also in high school and helps her at the store in the afternoons.

In the future Antonio wants to build a cinder block store because the one she has now is made of wood. This would be a more durable and safe place to store her merchandise.
