Lucero's story

Lucero is a young woman of 22 who lives in Parcona district. Parcona district is known for its warm climate, its farming and livestock raising, and also for the friendliness of the locals. In her free time, Lucero really enjoys dancing and she also enjoys eating one of her favorite dishes, the delicious 'arroz con pato' (rice with duck). She only finished high school but would have liked to have studied to become a food engineer.

Lucero works every day in her business selling household decorations. She also sells a traditional sweet treat from her area called 'chocotejas' (chocolate coated fruit and nuts). She works around 6 hours a day and can serve up to 10 customers a day. She believes that her business is doing well because she sells good-quality products and her chocotejas are very tasty.

Lucero is very grateful to Kiva lenders because, thanks to their help, she will be able to buy two display cases in which to display her products. She will also buy soda wholesale to offer her customers. This will make her better income and she will be able to continue working hard to fulfill her biggest dream: to own a store.
