A loan of $3,950 helped a member to pay for the group's various businesses and daily expenses.

Matale Lending Group 1's story

Christine Aslimwe, the group representative, is a 30-year-old mother of three. She also cares for her late sister's three children. All six of the children in her care attend schools for which she and her husband have to find the school fees.

Christine has had a retail shop at Matale for three years. Her dream is to develop the shop into a wholesale store by expanding its size and slowly slowly having the resources to buy in bulk for cheaper prices. For now, she wants to use the loan to add a second fridge to the shop.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

In this group: Christine, Kevina, Esther, Robina, Hadija, Sarah, Charles, Specioza, Jackie, Logose, Emanuel, Noer, Allem, Joseph, Yudaeadeo, Steven, Grace, Mary*, Eseza*, Moses*
