Yolanda Esmeralda's story

Yolanda Esmeralda is 49 years old and married. She lives with her spouse and daughter in the Bolívar district of the province of San Miguel.

She is a member of Patrón San Miguel ["Patron Saint Michael"] community bank, which is located in the Paila Loma community of San Miguel, about 40 minutes away from the Chillanes office of Cooperativa San José. Its members work in agriculture and raise animals.

Yolanda is a farmer and grows soft maize, beans, potatoes, peas, and berries. In addition she raises livestock: pigs, sheep, and chickens. She is requesting a loan to buy seeds, fertilizers, chickens, and feed. With the help of these funds, she will be able to buy more animals to increase her earnings.

She buys and sells in San Miguel on Thursday every week. Her dream is to be able to give an education to her children so that they can have professional careers.

In her free time she likes to watch television, walk around town, and enjoy Carnaval parties and festivals for the patron saints Michael and Francis.
