A loan of $975 helped to buy traditional wrap-around cloth.

Madoussou's story

Madoussou is 38 years of age and works as a court clerk. She is divorced, and lives with her child in the town of Kolondièba. She quickly became interested in profit-making activities, particularly the purchase and sale of clothing, wax-coated “pagnes” (traditional wrap-around cloth) and shoes. She is appreciated and much sought-after in Kolondièba and the surrounding area.

This is Madoussou’s first loan, and she plans to use it to buy a bale of wax-coated pagnes of different types from wholesalers in Bamako and Burkina-Faso (Bobo-Dioulasso). She makes her sales on a cash and retail basis, working from home and in different town squares. Her customers are both male and female.

Madoussou hopes to make a monthly profit of 125,000 francs CFA. She will use this money to help her husband to provide for her family, repay her loan, and reinvest in her business.
