A loan of $825 helped to purchase goods for his business.

Richard's story

Richard is 30 years old and lives in the town of Lyantonde in the Mbarara region of Uganda. He is married and has 2 children, one of whom is currently in school. For the past 3 years, Richard has been working hard to manage his retail shop where he sells general foodstuffs.

To help expand his business, Richard has requested a loan of 2 million Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase goods for his business and will help Richard generate greater profits and improve his business. Richard hopes that in the future he will have the biggest retail shop in Kyabuza and earn greater profits.

Richard is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Richard who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
