A loan of $1,125 helped a member to pay for plowing costs and to buy agricultural inputs and tools.

Benkadi 2 Group's story

The 10 members of the BENKADI 2 group, which is made up exclusively of married women, live in polygamous families. Their average age is 36 and they have an average of 3 children. All the women live in the village of Togoya, in Kolondièba, and they met through family and local connections. All of them work in the rainy season.

With the goal of increasing their production, the members joined Soro Yiriwaso and are on their 2nd loan campaign.

Sitan, seated, plans to use her loan to buy seed, fertilizer, weedkiller and picks, as well as to pay for the plowing and weeding of her fields. She wants to plant 2 hectares of rice and groundnuts. Sitan plans to produce 1.5 tonnes of rice and 1.5 tonnes of groundnuts. Some of the crop will be sold in order to repay the loan, the rest will be stored as a food supply. The profit from the sale will also be used for clothing and to pay for various household expenses.
