Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Loida's story

Loida is from Aurora, Zamboanga Del Sur, Philippines. She is 38 years old and married. Loida has only one grown dependent. Loida's husband is working abroad.

Loida owns and operates a retail store at home to support her day-to-day needs. For three years, she has been able to manage the store properly. Every month she receives PHP 13,200 from her business venture. To overlay her financial needs, Loida joined GDMPC to have access to financial services. She has applied for and was granted a loan in the amount of PHP 35,000. This is her fifth loan cycle. Loida is a good member of the co-operative.

The loan taken is used to purchase daily use commodities to sell, such as noodles, eggs, salt, vinegar, canned goods, spices, shampoo and more. With the revenue it is feasible to earn, Loida hopes to sustain her livelihood further, and sell more products to increase her regular monthly income.
