A loan of $700 helped to buy fruit.

Luz María's story

Luz is a member of the communal bank 26-71. She lives in the city of Cuenca, which is known for its architectural beauty and its gastronomy—which captivates the palates of locals and visitors alike. The people of Cuenca are warm-hearted, friendly, and courteous. They still maintain the culture and traditions of the native peoples.

Luz is fifty-five years old and single with no children. She rents her home.

Luz is a hardworking woman who has made her living in commerce for many years. She sells fruit in street markets from Wednesday to Sunday without a fixed schedule. The other days she works cleaning houses or taking in laundry when it is available.

She is now on her fifth loan achieved through the communal bank, and she is going to use it to buy fruits in order to have a greater variety of produce.

Her goal is to grow her business considerably.
