A loan of $875 helped to buy fertilizer for his farm.

Enrique's story

Enrique started out in coffee growing when he was a young man and used to work as a cutter for other producers. This was where he learned how to carry out all the tasks that are necessary in producing coffee. When Enrique married Matilde, his father gave him a plot of land so that he could start working it and producing his own coffee in order to make income for his new family. Enrique and his wife currently have seven children who help them with both their farm work and the housework. Enrique and his family are currently producing an average of 6 tons of coffee a year and they sell all of it to the “Unión Regional de Huatusco” so that it can then be exported. Enrique needs to fertilize his plot of land before his next harvest so that he can maintain the level of production he has enjoyed up to now. This is why he is requesting a loan. In the future, Enrique and his wife plan to set up a grocery store in their home so that they can make more income for their family, provide them with greater comfort, and better prepare their children.
