A loan of $675 helped to buy coffee plants and fertilizer.

Isaac's story

The first time Isaac visited a coffee plantation was at the age of 10 when he accompanied his father to help him work. Isaac has been interested in everything to do with this crop from a young age and, over time, he has learned everything he needs to know about growing it. Isaac has been married to Inocencia for more than 50 years and they have five children in whom they have instilled a love for farm work from an early age. Although they are already married, they help Isaac with the work on his coffee plantation. Isaac and his wife produce around 8 tons of organic coffee a year. He knows that, with the help of a loan, he will be able to produce a total of 20 tons a year in five years time because he has enough land to sow more coffee plants. However, he doesn't have the money he needs to achieve this goal. Isaac and his wife are really proud of the fact that they have been able to give their children property so that they can start working for themselves. The only goal they still have to achieve is to support their youngest child so that he can study for a degree in mechanical engineering.
