Macius is the coordinator of his group, which is called Regard de Jesus. He is a widower, and has two children. He lives in the north of Haiti, where electricity is rare and the water supply is very limited.

Macius has run his business for the past 12 years, and would like to use this loan to invest in the grocery store where he sells miscellaneous products. He hopes that the loan will help him have a bigger business. Other members of his group need loans for businesses such as coal, miscellaneous products and cosmetic sales.

Macius says that his biggest challenge is the lack of purchases, and the fact that too many people ask him for credit. He says that his main goal is to have more money so that, with the help of God, he can have a large business.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
