Christian Jesus
Christian is a 21-year-old man who lives in the city of Chincha together with his partner and 3-year-old son. In spite of his young age, Christian is a very responsible, hard-working and enthusiastic person who puts all his efforts into providing for his family. Unfortunately, owing to his need to work and cover his expenses, Christian was not able to study for a degree. However, he dreams of being able to some day. In his free time, he enjoys watching television together with his partner and his young son. He also sometimes cooks delicious 'carapulcra con sopa seca' to share with his family.

Through his own initiative and thanks to his partner's support, Christian has been working for a poultry company in his city for two years. He works approximately 12 hours a day. He is very happy with the work that he does. He is well thought of as a result of his good work and the kind way he treats everybody.

Christian is very grateful to Kiva lenders because, thanks to their help, he will be able to buy a plot of land on which he would like to build his own home as he currently lives in his parents' house. This will enable Christian to have his own home and he will be able to provide his family with greater security and comfort.

About Caja Rural Señor de Luren

Caja Rural Señor de Luren is a microfinance institution based in Ica in southern Peru that primarily promotes the development of the country’s agricultural sector through lending. Today, it also offers credit for consumers, microenterprises and housing improvements, and has expanded its financial services to promote micro-savings and provide micro-insurance. This institution has been instrumental in helping borrowers recover from the devastating earthquake in the Ica region in 2007, and works with Peru’s National Bank to reach some of the poorest and most remote microfinance clients in the country.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
