A loan of $5,375 helped a member to buy supplies for her farming business.

Los Angeles De Urubamba Group's story

(Sra. Martha is the woman in the photo with her hand up.) Our member, Martha, was born in the city of Yucay but she lives in Urubamba, a beautiful province in the Peruvian "departamento" of Cusco. She is 54-years old, married and has three children. She operates a farming business. She grows vegetables and sells them in various markets in Cusco and Urubama. She has operated the business for 28 years and says that the business has been a good source of income. Martha is applying for a loan that she will use to buy seeds, fertilizers and organic manure.

The members of the "Angeles de Urubamba" community bank are friends and neighbors, all of whom live in Urubamba province. The members look for every opportunity to get ahead and they work hard so that they can provide better futures for their children. They operate a range of businesses: food sales, herbal medicine sales and construction work.

The members tell us that they are grateful for the help your loans provide and that they are committed to repaying the loans in the agreed-upon time.

The city of Cusco was founded by the Incas. The city lies in Cusco district which, in turn, is in the "departamento" of Cusco. Tourists flock to the city to see its historic center, nearby archaelogical sites and the countryside around the city. It's considered one of the most charming cities in southern Peru. Cusco is also known for its traditional Inti Raymi festival and for one of the seven wonders of the world, Machu Picchu.
