A loan of $1,025 helped to stock more building materials in her hardware store.

Margret's story

Margret is 30 years old and lives in the town of Kibuli in the Kampala South region of Uganda. She is married and has three children, two of them currently in school. For the past six years, Margret has been working hard to manage her hardware retail store, where she sells building materials.

To help expand her business, Margret has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings. The loan will be used to stock more products and will help Margret to generate greater profits and to widen her sales. Margret hopes that in the future she will be able to have a big store.

Margret is a member of BRAC Uganda's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Margret who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
