A loan of $300 helped to buy washing machines.

Vicente's story

Vicente is 36 years old and he runs a laundry in his house, renting out his washing machines. He lives in a municipality located a very short distance form Barranquilla with his wife and their 4 children aged between 3 and 12. Previously engaged in building houses, Vicente has moved to an activity offering him more fixed earnings, as opposed to his job in the constructions, and he has his family to constantly provide for. For this reason 18 months ago he started with one washing machine, gradually adding one more machine as his market was expanding. He is currently requesting his first loan to Fundación Mario Santo Domingo to buy washing machines to tend to the requests for this service that he gets. His wife greatly supports him in his task. His activity has a significant potential of growth to make the most of, as his neighborhood is expanding and improving, and many new families need to rent washing machines; women in particular need to get relief from the tiredness deriving from the combination of their domestic chores and their working activities, and as well as to shield themselves a little form the hot sun of the Colombian Caribbean.
