A loan of $1,600 helped to purchase raw materials.

Jose Manuel's story

José Manuel was born in 1985 and currently lives in the city of Latacunga, in the province of Cotopaxi. Latacunga is located in central Ecuador, at the foot of the highest active volcano in the world, the Cotopaxi, which has destroyed the city three times since it was founded. The city displays colonial arquitecture, and its residents are known for celebrating several festivities which comprise multicultural beliefs, such as the “Mama Negra,” which originated from African, indigenous, and Spanish traditions.
José Manuel has been working in his business for six years, four hours a day and weekends. He is a locksmith and also works with metal, building door and window frames, as well as structures to protect doors and windows.
He is requesting a loan from Kiva in order to purchase more raw materials so that he can finish contracts faster, generate a better income, and move forward with his business and also personally. This way, José will be prepared to make his dreams come true, such as starting a family and owning a home.
