A loan of $1,025 helped to buy more essential commodities.

Aidah's story

Aidah is 50 years old and lives in the town of Natete in the Kampala west region of Uganda. She is single and has 3 children. One of them is currently in school. For the past 4 years, Aidah has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells sugar and soap. To help expand her business, Aidah has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more essential commodities, and will help Aidah to generate greater profits and expand her business into a wholesale shop. Aidah hopes that in the future she will be able to build more rental houses. Aidah is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Aidah who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
