A loan of $1,025 helped david would like to buy more clutch disks and pressure plates for his auto parts store.

David's story

David is the twenty-nine year old operator of a small auto parts store. David has been selling auto parts of different kinds for over eight years. He will use the loan proceeds to purchase more clutch disks and pressure plates from Japan, Korea and Germany. In Ghana there are no auto parts stores, but there is a high demand for parts as the taxi networks are the main transportation option. His stand operates in an area of Accra called Abossey-Okai that is a conglomeration of hundreds of entrepreneurs who each sell specific auto parts.

David hopes the loan proceeds help him increase his sales volume and profits so that he can buy his own store or rent a store. Currently, he travels with all of his products to his stand everyday. With a permanent space, he could store his products overnight.

David is a member of the lending group Respect. The lending group works as a type of social collateral where each member of the group applies pressure on other members to ensure repayment.
