A loan of $1,050 helped to buy nail polish, acetone, creams and hair color.

Ana Mercedes's story

Ana, 22, sells beauty products. This young, hardworking woman lives in Milagros in her parents’ house since she’s single. She’s liked the activity she carries out since she started going to school since she’s good at sales and decided to test the market. Before finishing secondary school she’d taken several courses where she learned to care for and maintain it.

She’s been in this business for seven years now and does very well. She does hair coloring, straightening, haircuts and manicure; whatever the customer requests. She does the work visiting the customer based on prior appointments because she’s not been able to set up a salon which hasn’t been a problem, though, since she has customers anyway.

Ana comments that her greatest problem is crime because she has to carry a suitcase filled with her products and tools like hair straightening comb and hair dryer in order to do her work but to date she’s not been robbed and hopes to continue that way.

The loan she’s asking for is to buy beauty products like nail polish, acetone, creams, and hair color, etc. and part of it is to fix up her room in her parents’ house. In the future she’d like to finish her university studies and open her beauty salon.
