A loan of $1,075 helped to buy a backup power generator for his business.

Jose Francisco's story

With 42,000 DOP Jose would be able to buy a backup power generator in order to be able to assure his customers of service on time. The continual suspension of electrical service is one of the main problems related to public services in the Dominican Republic.

In some areas, almost always the poorest, there are days when electricity is cut off early in the morning, and it is not turned back on for eight to ten hours. Jose needs electricity to be able to do his work.

Jose is married, and his wife is an elementary school teacher. They have a seven year old son, who is in the second grade. Jose’s dream is to expand his business so that, in time, he can have his own house. This way he will have a safe and comfortable place to raise his son.
