A loan of $775 helped to buy second hand spare parts.

Moussa's story

Born in 1978, about 6 kms from the town of Sikasso, Moussa is married and the father of two children. He lives with his wife and their children in a large traditional extended family in Sikasso.
Moussa is a mechanic by profession, and has been for over eight years. In order to facilitate his customers buying car parts, in parallel with this business he operates as a buyer and seller of spare parts. His customers seek him out for the quality of his products.
To meet the needs of his ever growing customer base, he decided to join the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso over two years ago, where he is on his sixth individual loan. The previous loans have all been properly repaid. With this sixth loan, he intends to buy a large quantity of spare parts - for example rods, camshafts, pistons and wheel rims. The goods (parts) are bought onsite by virtue of dismantling older cars, in order to sell them for spare parts in the shop inside his garage.
With this loan he intends to generate a monthly profit of 175,000 FCFA which will be mostly used to contribute to the family's living expenses and to pay the loan interest; the remainder will be invested in the business.
